Massage Applicants
Massage Permits:
The following guidelines have been provided for your convenience. For complete details, please refer to the City of Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 5.50. The City of Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 5.50 may be downloaded at no charge using the link at the bottom of this page, or a printed copy may be purchased at our Front Desk for $2.25.
All applicants (new or renewal) shall pay a NON-REFUNDABLE permit fee to the Front Desk officer of the Newport Beach Police Department upon submitting their application. The fees are as follows:

Bring your completed application, required documents, and fee payment to the Newport Beach Police Department on any Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 8:00 am and noon. No appointment is required. Your application will be accepted, your fingerprints will be taken, and you will automatically be scheduled to participate in the written exam.
New applicants need to submit their application at least ten (10) days prior to the written exam. Failure to meet this time requirement will result in being scheduled into the following month’s exam. The written exam is administered on the third Wednesday of every month.
Renewal applicants need to submit their application at least sixty (60) days prior to the expiration date on the applicant’s current permit. Renewal applicants have the option of either participating in the written exam or providing proof of at least thirty-six (36) hours of continuing education as described in the Massage Ordinance 5.50.035D(2).
